Let’s face it – sometimes the sauce makes the meal!
Especially when you’re left with leftovers that you don’t really want to eat, having an awesome Whole 30 compliant sauce for dipping or drizzling can take your meal from boring to brilliant.
Here’s a round-up of some of our very favorite Whole 30 sauces. Make a few of these at the start of each week, store them in mason jars or Tupperware in your fridge, and mix and match them with proteins and veggies to add variety to your meal plan.
Some of these sauces require a food processer, others do best with an immersion blender. I have this Cuisinart immersion blender and it’s changed my life! (Maybe that’s dramatic but it’s true.)
An added bonus: Many of these sauces also count as your plate’s added fat!
And now, let’s talk sauce…
Whole Sisters Dump Ranch: This is the classic Whole 30 sauce. It’s easy and inexpensive to make and can be used on everything from eggs to chicken to burgers to vegetables. Out of one of the ingredients? It’s very flexible – use what you have on hand and it’s sure to come out great!
Lick Your Plate’s Spicy Garlic Aioli: Lauren is the queen of sauces, and this one does not disappoint. It’s quick and easy, and pairs well with meat, seafood, veggies, hot dogs, burgers, eggs, shrimp, chicken, and more!
Jay’s Baking Me Crazy Paleo Tzatziki Sauce: Cooking up some Greek food? Jay’s Baking Me Crazy has you covered with a Whole 30 compliant tzatziki sauce. Loaded with cucumber, dill, lemon, and spices, this sauce works well with her Paleo Gyro recipe – or any protein and veggies that you whip up.
The Real Foods Dietitians Green Goddess Dressing: Salads don’t have to be boring with this Whole 30 compliant salad dressing, which can also double as a dipping or drizzling sauce. Made with nutpods, avocado, and basil – along with other ingredients you are sure to have on hand – this dressing is full of healthy fats and is big on flavor.
The Whole Smiths Paleo Pesto: Pesto is one of my favorite sauces to make. It’s bright and fresh, a great source of added fat, and is awesome on everything from eggs to chicken. Follow this recipe or make your own with arugula, walnuts, olive oil, garlic, nutritional yeast, salt and pepper – all to taste. Blend in a food processor and enjoy!
Paleo Bailey’s Whole 30 BBQ Sauce: Craving BBQ but don’t want all of the sugar that’s typically in the sauce? Paleo Bailey has you covered with her take on Whole 30 BBQ sauce. It’s sweet and smoky and also works well on non-BBQ dishes.
40 Aprons Whole 30 Bernaise Sauce: This is an elegant sauce that Cheryl from 40 Aprons shows on steak. But the sauce, which is flavored with shallots and tarragon, is also perfect over fried eggs or drizzled on chicken breasts, she says.
